Handmade cards inspired by nature

In March, I spent most of my time in the studio working on two large orders for custom cards, so while the lack of new offerings in my Shop might lead you to believe I've been inactive in the studio, the exact opposite has been true. I've been busy!

Today, I finally have a new selection of cards to list. These mixed media pieces include handpainted components as well as collage, stamping, and sketching. All are inspired by the woods outside my home and the wonder of spring.

Blue can be a happy color

...and this set of cards proves it.

Blue daisy

This handpainted blue daisy is matted on textured papers and mounted on 80 lb cardstock. It's a sweet way to cheer up someone who may be feeling blue.

I used a rubber stamp from Stampington to heat emboss a heart onto handpainted paper. The image is swathed in organdy ribbon and mounted on dry embossed 80 lb cardstock. A perfect Valentine, anniversary card, or hug in an envelope for someone you love.

And I can't seem to stay away from collage cards these days. This one is made almost entirely from handpainted papers mounted on 80 lb cardstock. Frame it, mail it, give it to someone you love or stand it on your desk.

All cards in this set measure 4.25" x 5.5" and come with silky smooth white envelopes. They are blank inside but if you wish I can add a sentiment (Thinking of you, Happy Birthday, Happy Valentines Day, etc.). I can also decorate the envelopes with hearts or flowers if you wish. Just let me know.

The first two in this set include heart collages over an embossed base using a folder from Sizzix. I love all the texture.

I've been attracted to all the yellow, coral, and terra cotta shades in my studio these days. This latest set of cards are the perfect vehicle for warm thoughts.

These cards offer a sweet way to say hello, thank you, or happy birthday. They're sturdy, made of 80 lb. cardstock layered with additional elements that give them a substantial field.

The background is embossed for texture (using a folder from Cuttlebug), the flowers are sketched and colored with Inktense Watercolor pencils, and each card is tied with a bit of twine for a rustic natural touch.
