America and Brussels

buvez coke.jpg

where we are

[for edward field]

i envy those

who live in two places:

new york, say, and london;

wales and spain;

l.a. and paris;

hawaii and switzerland.

there is always the anticipation

of the change, the chance that what is wrong

is the result of where you are.  i have

always loved both the freshness of

arriving and the relief of leaving. with

two homes every move would be a homecoming.

i am not even considering the weather, hot

or cold, dry or wet: i am talking about hope.

I love this, I will steal it :) It's my ultimate! and probably why books like 'Under the Tuscan Sun' resonate but I love movement.

You captured it so well V: differences and change turn this world into a much more exciting place.

Unfortunately, most of us can only afford to live in one place, limiting our experiences and view on the world.

You only THINK you have one home. Starting next week, you have a home in America and a home in Antwerp. I'll leave the light on for y'all.

Commercialism makes me sad. :(

What normalcy you brought to me with your words. The normalcy of unknowing, of mystery, and also a little fear and delight. I am moving TO Antwerp from US - alone, naive in travel, older (than what I don't know) but excited, looking to the adventure, sad to leave behind so much that I love (my baby boys will grow the next two years, even without their grandma). Whew - it's all been done before (I know a different journey) -- thank you. I LOVE your writing - it moves me. WOW
