Lollipop sunflowers and another landscape

Last week marked my final acrylic painting class with a local artist. This Friday I start with a new instructor and a new approach. We'll see how that goes.  I'm not sure I'm really cut out to be a painter, but hey, I'll give it one more try.

For my last assignment, I tried to recreate some of the sunflowers I saw in a field by my home. Hmmm, looked a little bit like the lollipop flowers little children draw. I wish I'd made the stems bend and given it more of a sense of movement. The perspective is skewed in the foreground. I did like my sky and all the shades of green I managed to introduce in my foliage.

We spent about an hour in class doing a quick landscape. I liked this one, despite it's unfinished look.  The sunflowers were painted on canvas. This is just a piece of poster board and eventually I may cut it up and make cards from the bits and pieces. Sorry about the flash bloom in the center. When I turned off my flash, it was too blurry.

I love the sky too, how it gives the impression of breezy clouds... but (this sounds kind of silly) my favorite part of the whole thing, sky, flowers, beautiful greens and all, is that one leaf on the big sunflower.

You were sharp to spot that leaf. It *is* the best part of the composition.

I really like the sunflower pic.

HI V,

I have really been enjoying seeing all your new works. Some of your pieces just reach out and grab me. I have to say, I agree with you about the sunflower painting. It feels a bit stale. It's not one of my favorites of your work. But the second...oh, I see major possibilities. It seems like a walk through the forest, with all that foreground a place to fill in your own dreams. As if you walk out of those trees to this place where you can imagine anything before heading back into the woods again. I'll look forward to seeing more as you move onto your next class. Enjoy it!

They're both beautiful...and who knows...maybe someday I'll be inspired by you, and go take a painting class. Awesome.

I like the sunflower in the middle. Her "hair" is all cooky. It's great! I kind of like the "lollipop" look. The landscape is nice, but the sunflowers are wonderful.
