Sock Monkey Love

My friend Lisa has such a warm and generous spirit. I see it in the way she loves her family and her two sons, her willingness to put volunteer hours in every week at her boys' school, and the kindness she extends to her friends.

So often when I see her,  she is bearing small and thoughtful gifts. A necklace she whipped up for my daughter, a bookmark for me featuring beads and bird charms (favorite symbols of mine), or a bar of Belgian chocolate.

I've been facing a few challenges behind the scenes at Compost Studios, and Lisa knew about them. She invited me to join her for a Girls' Night Out at her friend Barb's house, and when she came to pick me up, she had a surprise for me. I gave a little squeal when I pulled this out of the bag.

Every time I see this, it makes me smile big and wide like a monkey. The dancing blue sock monkey on this side of the mug has a companion red sock monkey on the opposite side who is sporting a purple cap and waving with his lime green paw. They make me want to wave back or maybe dance a little bit when no one is looking. Those cute bouncy polka dots on the outside of the mug line the inside of the rim too. I just love details like that.

Thanks Lisa! As the Girl always says, "Mama, you have the BEST friends."

Thanks, V. You made my day. I'm so happy to see the tiny edge of a tea bag tag hanging out of your new mug! Cheers to lots of toasty drinks with The Sock Monkeys. L

That blue checkered look is kind of like a Curious George, leprechaun, smurf mix.
