First day of winter

Anyone for alfresco dining?

The birdbath is currently inoperational due to "technical difficulties"

But, there are reminders of summer here too: behold a rose in winter.

I love a blue bird day. Makes me want to ski. Beautiful! "Technical difficulties" made me laugh out loud!

Awesome. Wish you could box some of that up and send it our way.

I enjoyed the striking contrast of the rose against the white snow. How beautiful!

So beautiful, V. Nearly opposite of what I experience here in the desert southwest. Lovely to enjoy vicariously.

I envy your snow...and your photographic abilities.

I know many of you see lots of snow where you are, but for Virginia, anything more than a few inches is a Very Big Deal, especially in December and so close to Christmas. Most of our major snowfalls occur in late January or February.

And the rose, the rose just blew me away when I noticed it. What an amazing sight! I take the same path in and out of the house every day and seldom walk across this side of the house. This made me wonder what I've been missing.

Apathy Lounge--thanks for the kind words on the photography. I have a humble point-and-shoot Canon and don't understand nearly enough about the technical side of digital photography. One day I'll get a digital SLR and learn how to use it. I studied film photography one semester in college...

Looks like lots of good eatin' snow! It is snowing here again. We woke up to that quiet sound that sounds like it is snowing.
