Colorful flight

This card flew into my imagination as I was considering how I wanted to use the brightly colored background paper I'd painted in a series of sessions in my studio.  This bird stamp, part of the Carte Postale set from Stampin' Up, is one of my absolute favorites

Love the colors... my favorites!

Those little dots on the bottom remind me of those long strips of candies I used to get for a penny at the corner store! (Lovely card, btw...)

Oh, I like this one ... what I like more, however, is knowing that you did the background paper separately in a series of sessions. There is something alluring about the knowledge that what we may take for granted, like background, would have had so much time an effort put into it.

Beautiful! I agree with Donna, too. I'm always looking for a quick card, and take the easy path with clean and simple designs, but the idea of putting effort into a background...and not knowing where it will end up...is so appealing!

The painted backgrounds are fun because you can experiment with different colors, techniques, products and no two come out exactly the same. It's a great creative exercise and a way for me to expand my skills. Plus in cards, the uniqueness of the painted backgrounds offsets the predictability of the stamped images for me.

I really really like this one.

I always love your bird art work. Orange is not always one of my favorites (it depends on the application), but it's just perfect for this card. Like the bamboo (?) on the side, too.
