Compost Studios is the place I reduce, reuse, and recycle my life experiences through art, poetry, photography, and essays. It caters to those who think the unexamined life is not worth living (even if the overexamined life can feel like hell sometimes, ha ha ha). My goal is to be thoughtful and creative, to dare to be open in personal expression through word and image, to commit to sharing my view of the world and the day, and to meet others who appreciate the value of life's small moments and big ideas.

I've worked professionally as a writer most of my life and have been blogging since 2005. I love to connect with people online and in person, locally and across the globe. The first blog at this URL, V-Grrrl in the Middle, was begun when I was living as an expat in Belgium. In 2008, I returned to the U.S. and now live in Virginia.

I'm a late-blooming artist who has exhibited and sold art in juried art exhibits, but who currently focuses on designing and creating handmade cards. Each card is a small work of mixed-media art designed to make sending and receiving mail something to truly celebrate.
